Grades 5-8

The middle school years are a time of immense growth and development. Norwood's middle school (grades 5-8) is a dynamic student-centered community of learning. Our teachers excel at creating unique learning experiences that challenge students to ponder, to experiment, and to problem-solve.

The middle school curriculum provides students with varied and rich opportunities to build their social-emotional competencies and critical-thinking skills. Our approach to learning is intentional, integrated, and responsive. The process of learning is central to the Norwood middle schooler experience whether they are discussing equity in advisory, examining the impact of climate change in science, analyzing literature in English, or engaging in algebraic problem-solving in math.

Classroom experiences across all academic disciplines are tailored to engage and challenge each student. The academic rigor is complemented by our life skillscharacter education, and service learning programs, as well as a rich  variety of clubs and groups that create a well-rounded and fun experience. As a result, Norwood students graduate with the empathy, communication, as well as collaborative and critical-thinking skills they will use throughout their lives.

I am excited to work with our talented Norwood middle school team—experienced faculty members who love and specialize in the middle school years—to support each student’s journey to deepen their passion, joy, and competence in learning. I am happy to answer your questions about the middle school experience at Norwood School. Feel free to reach out any time.
