Visual Art

The visual art program exposes students to a broad range of media and disciplines. From pre-kindergarten through eighth grade, emphasis is placed on teaching with a process-oriented, child-centered philosophy. Students demonstrate their understanding of the concepts and techniques presented in each project through the successful interpretation and application to their work. Art is alive at Norwood, with displays throughout the campus as well as online. Projects are intertwined with the culture of the School, and many projects have integrated themes designed to enhance understanding through cross-curricular connections. Students are encouraged to observe, appreciate, and draw from the natural world around them while making connections and exploring art forms, artists, and ideas from many cultures.
