NORWOOD DELEGATES SHINE AT THE GREATER WASHINGTON MODEL U.N. CONFERENCE

Norwood’s Middle School Model U.N. team showcased impressive diplomacy, persuasive writing, and public-speaking skills at the 30th Annual Greater Washington Conference on International Affairs, held at George Washington University on Saturday, December 6, 2025. We are so proud of their success!
Eighth grader Yash earned the conference’s top honor—Best Delegate—for his representation of Indonesia in the U.N. Economic and Social Council. Throughout the day, he demonstrated exceptional poise and strategic thinking as he navigated debates on global economic and social issues.

Seventh grader Max received an Outstanding Delegate award for his portrayal of Senator Josh Hawley in the U.S. Senate Committee. His ability to articulate nuanced positions and engage respectfully with opposing viewpoints set him apart in a highly competitive group.

Also representing Norwood with distinction, seventh grader Katya earned an Honorable Mention for her portrayal of Ueli Maurer, president of Switzerland, in the European Heatwaves 2019 Committee. Her research, persuasive arguments, and collaborative leadership were recognized by committee chairs and fellow delegates alike.

Behind the scenes, advisors Risa Seidman and Kelly Dickinson played an essential role in preparing students for the conference. From guiding research to refining position papers to helping students develop confidence in public speaking, their mentorship was instrumental in the team’s success.

Congratulations to all!
