AADVIK
There are lots of great teachers at Norwood who teach in an interesting way. It has a great community with lots of nice students as well. The class sizes are small, which is nice as you can get to know all your teachers and classmates. I also felt known at Norwood with the teachers encouraging me to try new things and follow the things that I am good at.
ELIANA
The core values at Norwood are majorly implemented, specifically “Be Known.” I feel that every teacher really knows you and puts effort into making every student feel heard and known. Norwood provided a safe space for me to explore my interests, make friends, and grow as an individual.
HENRY
Norwood has the right amount of challenge academically, and I, along with many of my classmates, truly felt comfortable. I love Norwood because I was able to experience middle school in a non-pressure environment, and, while I have made mistakes, many people have helped me learn from them.
LEENA
I love Norwood because it always motivated me to try harder and push myself. I will miss Norwood’s strong community.
TYSON
I have made some of my best friends at Norwood and tons of long-lasting memories. Because of Norwood, I learned that “how you lead your life matters.”
REBECCA
I love Norwood because there are so many opportunities to have a fun time, help someone, or to learn something new.
COLE
I spent nine years at Norwood, and I loved every moment. I love Norwood because of the welcoming and friendly community. Everybody here is super friendly and nice. At Norwood, I learned how to be the best person I could be.
STELLA
Each person at Norwood is unique, so Norwood tailors every student’s learning to fit individual needs. Additionally, everyone has access to a huge variety of clubs and extracurricular activities to grow skills and make friends!
BRADY
I love Norwood because the people are kind and supportive, and the community is very strong and tight knit. Mostly for sports, I have learned how to have a short-term memory and keep moving after mistakes. The same applies to everyday life as well.
JANIYA
Norwood gave me a chance to try new things and express myself through creative and interesting programs. Norwood is an amazing school to help kids get out of their comfort zone and get a good education.
RYAN
I was known at Norwood through my teachers and my friends but most importantly through the whole community of this school. Because of Norwood, I learned to treat everyone with respect, no matter who they are.
SHELBY
The Norwood community is so welcoming, and the students/teachers will always be there for you. Because of Norwood, I learned to ask questions and to take the time I need to learn.
The ringing of the Norwood Bell is a common sound during the school day. It signifies the end of recess and time to return to class. Lower schoolers (and we suspect some middle schoolers) enjoy the opportunity to ring the bell with permission from their teacher. On graduation day, it is a tradition that each eighth grader ring the bell one last time (pictured in the photos above) before the ceremony begins.
Located in Bethesda, MD, Norwood School develops students in grades PK-8 into confident lifelong learners who have the academic, character, and leadership skills to succeed in high school and beyond.
