Celebrating Blue Hawk Student-Athletes at the Middle School Athletics Assembly

Seventh and eighth graders gathered in the Rales Athletic Center on Thursday, May 26, 2022, to reflect on three great seasons of Blue Hawk athletics and applaud the recipients of this year's eighth-grade athletics awards
Head of School Matthew Gould kicked off the assembly with remarks for students, parents, coaches, and Norwood's athletic director, Mitch Weisbrot. To students, he said, "Thank you for your effort and success this year. You performed well; however, your accomplishments will not be measured in wins and losses, but in your outstanding representation of Norwood—competing hard, winning well, losing well, and remembering important lessons regarding citizenship, sportsmanship, and integrity. To parents, Mr. Gould said, "Thank you for supporting your student-athletes and supporting our program. We couldn't do it without you!" To the coaches, "We all owe a debt of gratitude to our coaches who pour themselves into making each athletic season the best it can be and for working tirelessly to ensure each and every students finds success on the field/court of play." And, finally, to Athletic Director Mitch Weisbrot, he said, "Your organization, hard work, and passion for what you do is evident on a daily basis—thank you!"

Mr. Weisbrot then took the podium to share highlights from each season and some interesting facts about this year's athletics program:
