More than 40 Middle School Students Receive Awards for Performance on National World Language Exams

Congratulations, felicidades, toutes nos félicitations, gratulationes, and gōng xǐ to the more than 40 middle school students who received awards for their performance on national world language exams this year!
NATIONAL SPANISH EXAM
The National Spanish Examination, sponsored by the American Association of Teachers and Portuguese, is given voluntarily by about 4,000 teachers throughout the United States to measure performance and achievement of students in grades 6-12 who are studying Spanish as a second language. This year, the exam was taken by Norwood's eighth graders.

NATIONAL FRENCH CONTEST (LE GRAND CONCOURS)
The National French Contest (Le Grand Concours) is an annual competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French. More than 100,000 students from elementary, middle, and high schools nationwide take the exam each year.

NATIONAL LATIN EXAM
National Latin Exam, offered annually by the American Classical League and the National Junior Classical League, tests students’ command of Latin at appropriate levels and tests knowledge in the areas of grammar, comprehension, geography, history, and mythology.

CHINESE HSK
The Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK), an international standardized test of Chinese language proficiency, assesses non-native Chinese speakers’ abilities in using the Chinese language in their daily, academic and professional lives. Test takers who are able to pass the HSK Level 4 can converse in Chinese on a wide range of topics and are able to communicate fluently with native Chinese speakers.
