The traditional 2024-2025 School Year application season is now closed. We have a few openings in select grades for the 2024-2025 school year. If you are interested in exploring late admission, please submit an inquiry and we will reach out if an opening is available.

The 5-Step Process

.

List of 5 items.

  • 1. Apply online through the Ravenna-Hub

The admission application through Ravenna-Hub helps the Admission Office get to know your family. We encourage parents to have fun while writing the application responses and to trust that we view the essay as a personal perspective on the applicant and not as a parental writing sample! If applying after January 15, please contact the Admission Office, 301-841-2130, for guidance.

If your family has a financial hardship or is applying for financial aid, please request an application fee waiver code by filling out this form.
  • 2. Individual Parent Tour & Conversation

Once an application is submitted, an individual Parent Tour & Conversation provides families with the opportunity to see Norwood students and teachers in action, allow the Admission Team an opportunity to get to know your family better and help to bring your child's application to life. A typical Parent Tour & Conversation lasts around 75 minutes and is for adults only.
  • 3. Teacher Recommendations

    • Grades PK-2: One recommendation needed. Submit one recommendation directly from the current homeroom teacher. A recommendation from an outside instructor is acceptable for pre-K applicant who does not have a current classroom teacher to fill out the recommendation.
    • Grades 3-5: Two recommendations needed. Submit one recommendation from the current homeroom teacher and one recommendation from an additional current teacher.
    • Grades 6-8: Two recommendations needed. Submit one recommendation directly from the current English teacher and one recommendation directly from the current math teacher.
    • All recommendations are assigned, completed, and submitted electronically via email through Ravenna Hub. Input your child’s teacher’s name and email address in Ravenna and the teacher will receive an email with a link to a secure Teacher Evaluation form. Once the teacher fills out the form, it will be submitted directly to Norwood School.
  • 4. Progress Reports and Transcripts

Families should submit the Transcript Release Form (available on Ravenna) to their current school in sufficient time to meet the January 15 supporting document deadline. If a school does not produce a progress report or transcript (as is often the case with preschools), a school official should sign the bottom portion of the Transcript Release Form indicating such and submit that to Norwood.

All academic records should be submitted through Ravenna. If emailing those forms, please use admissionforms@norwoodschool.org.
  • 5. Student Visits

Once an application has been submitted, student visits may be scheduled through Ravenna. More information on student visits will be available via Ravenna Hub.

Please feel free to contact the office at any time to ask a question or arrange a visit.
