Norwood's Diversity Leadership Council has examined issues of inclusion and equity with respect to the full spectrum of gender and sexual identities, described by expert Dr. Jennifer Bryan as "Gender and Sexuality Diversity." As a result of this work, a Gender Identity Task Force was formed, comprised of members of the board, administrators, faculty, and staff. The task force has identified four areas of focus and has formed sub-committees for each:
Curriculum and Instruction
Parent Education and Communication
School Records, Privacy, and Pronouns
Facilities, Athletics, and Overnight Trips
The Gender Identity Task Force will submit a report to the board with additional recommendations for child-centered and mission-appropriate practices to ensure our community of teaching, learning and growing embraces all students and families.
