Norwood embraces your imagination and lets your creativity run free. Norwood also helps you flourish academically, and the environment is great. I loved how my teachers were always willing to help and guide me through things, and I love the bonds that I established throughout the past nine years.
Michael
Norwood is a place where students are able to become leaders at a younger age, unlike schools that are for grades K-12. In those schools, students learn to be leaders in high school, whereas Norwood students learn to be leaders in middle school.
Melina
I will miss the teachers who have so many classes so enjoyable and have helped me grow as a student and a person. I will miss the classrooms and the hallways that I have walked down for almost me whole life. Most of all, I will miss my friends and the community.
Cole
Norwood is a place where you can really feel comfortable with your classmates, where you can get along with everybody, and where you can really feel like you belong. Community is one of the most important things in life, and Norwood has a great one.
Sasha
I love Norwood because of the community. Norwood is a small school, so I know most of the teachers and students from the grade below me and (when I was younger) above me. Having a small school allows for people to be more comfortable with each other.
Gideon
Definitely come to Norwood if your child likes new opportunities and making good friends. I learned to take chances more often and that if I’m considering a new extracurricular activity, I should do it.
Tahlia
Norwood is wonderful school at which to grow up. I was there since kindergarten and made some lifelong friends. Norwood is a community where everyone knows everyone and where teachers are approachable. Some have become like family to me.
Noah
The community at Norwood is really great. Everyone is friendly and wants to see you succeed. You can always ask your teachers for help, and they will always provide good advice.
Yasmin
My family and I chose Norwood because of how everyone welcomed us with open arms. The community at Norwood has always made me feel comfortable, loved, and known. Norwood has given me the tools I need to succeed in high school and beyond.
Cooper
One skill I learned at Norwood is independence, especially during distance learning when it was essential for all students to have a level of independence in their work. This helped me become even more independent while also teaching me perseverance.
Ines
I would highly recommend Norwood because you get so many opportunities. It’s easy to try a new sport or instrument. Clubs are also very welcoming and a great way to make new friends. I love Norwood because I made friendships that I will carry for the rest of my life.
The ringing of the Norwood Bell is a common sound during the school day. It signifies the end of recess and time to return to class. Lower schoolers (and we suspect some middle schoolers) enjoy the opportunity to ring the bell with permission from their teacher. On graduation day, it is a tradition that each eighth grader ring the bell one last time (pictured in the photos above) before the ceremony begins.
Located in Bethesda, MD, Norwood School develops students in grades PK-8 into confident lifelong learners who have the academic, character, and leadership skills to succeed in high school and beyond.
