DVDs of Class Programs Coming Soon

As in previous years, you will soon be able to order DVDs of all class programs, the Christmas Pageant, 7/8 Play, 7/8 Musical, and middle school concerts. This year, rather than placing your order with the School, you will be able to place your orders online through a third party supplier who will duplicate the DVDs and ship them directly to you. We expect the ordering system to be in place by the end of May. In future years, we plan to offer DVDs within a couple of weeks of each performance. You will also be able to order DVDs of old performances hopefully going back as far as the 1990s.

Ordering information will be emailed to all parents as soon as the system “goes live.” Please direct questions to Vincent Hermosilla at vhermosilla@norwoodschool.org.

Attention 5th, 7th, and 8th Grade Parents

The annual 5th and 7th grade parent luncheons and 8th grade evening event will be held soon at the locations specified below. This year’s events will benefit the Housing Assistance Program which offers financial support to members of the faculty and staff who are entering the costly Washington Metropolitan area housing market. This important initiative helps Norwood attract and retain superior teachers and has already helped members of the current faculty buy their first homes.

If you have not already done so, please RSVP today by emailing Natalie West at natalieswest@hotmail.

5th Grade: May 20, Sandy Katzman
7th Grade: May 22, Janet Whitmore
8th Grade: May 21 (evening), Tory and Mark Joseph/Nancy O’Connell and Ray Wiacek

Dr. Carpool Says:

If you're going to talk on your cell phone while driving through campus in your convertible, breaking like, rule #1 in Dr. Carpool's book of don'ts, you should probably put the top up so the entire school doesn't know who he's writing about!

Lower School

From the Principal

Hello from Dr. Webster

In chapel on Monday, I told the children the story of good sportsmanship in a college softball game. If you have not yet heard this story here is a link. http://www.cwu.edu/~relation/pr-apr30a-08.html. It serves as a real world reminder of the value of making the right decision and doing the right thing. On Tuesday, I read some of the ever popular George and Martha stories. Wednesday was DEAR. On Thursday I read an Appalachian folk tale called ‘Old Joe and the Carpenter.’ It can be found in the book Rhinos and Raspberries.

With the weather forecast looking a bit ominous we will likely make a decision about whether or not to have Field Day early Friday morning and let everyone know by email. If we cannot have Field Day on Friday, our rain date is Wednesday, May 14.

From the Principal

Hello from Mrs. Rosenbaum

Our middle school chapel week began quite musically. We had Michel Russo and Will Simon play the theme song from Forrest Gump on the flute. Following their performance, Anthony Walker, father of Josh and Lauren, played a remarkable jazz rendition of the gospel “Sing Alleluia” on the piano. Tuesday, Debbie Pakaluk spoke about community service with the seventh and eighth graders and Rachel Dan spoke about her camp experience in fifth and sixth grade chapel. Wednesday was DEAR for seventh and eighth graders. On Wednesday there was a presentation to the fourth graders of their music choices for next year. Thursday in seventh and eighth grade chapel Carole Freret showed faculty baby photos and Brian Kouassi spoke about his new adopted brother in fifth and sixth grade. Friday was an all middle school chapel where our peer mediators spoke to the entire middle school.
