Setting Up Web Folders

Using web-folders requires a Windows PC running Internet Explorer (Please click here if you need to download Internet Explorer.) If you are using another browser to connect to the Internet such as AOL, Netscape, Mozilla, Firefox, etc., please launch Internet Explorer, then continue with the directions below.

Web-folders is a technology that connects your home computer into the Norwood network. The steps below will get you into your files. To return to your files at another time, you don't have to repeat this process, you will be able to access your files from a folder that will be put into "My Network Places" as an automatic part of this process.

Once you are using Internet Explorer, please follow these directions (you might want to print these out):

1. Select and copy one of the URLs below, depending on whether you are a student or faculty member:

Students:https://fileserver.norwoodschool.org/students

Faculty: https://fileserver.norwoodschool.org/faculty

2. On the menu of Internet Explorer, select "File... Open"
(For Internet Explorer 7 users press F10 to make the menu appear)

3. Paste the URL into the box by right-clicking and choosing "Paste" or by using the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl - V"
Be sure to check the box for "open as web-folder."

4. Next you will be prompted for your username and password.

For username, enter your Norwood username (first initial, last name).
For password, enter your Norwood password
Check the box that says "Remember my password" (unless you are using a public computer)
Click ok to continue.

5. In order to find your My Documents on the network, click into the Users folder, then on your class year, then click into your username folder, then click into your Home folder. [You can also access shared documents and grade level files]
