Physical Education is an important part of the K-6 curriculum, and beginning in Fifth Grade, the first year of Middle School, students can also participate in the Athletics Program.
Every middle school student has the opportunity to participate in both interscholastic and intramural competition. Fifth and sixth graders form the Blue Hawk junior varsity teams, and seventh and eighth graders form the Blue Hawk varsity teams. Students may select a sport in each of three seasons. As an alternative to competitive sports, students may opt to participate in a fitness and conditioning class or Norwood’s signature outdoor education/adventure sports program called Summit. Throughout the athletic program, the emphasis is on skills development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
